Pediatric Services

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children should see a dentist when they get their first tooth and not later than 1 year of age. An early visit to the dentist is a good way to familiarize the children with dental visits and learn the importance of proper tooth brushing & flossing at an early age.

Below are the specialty services we provide in addition to regular cleanings.

Composite Fillings

Composite fillings come in all shades and are quite natural looking. In addition, the dentist does not have to remove as much natural tooth structure to place a composite fillings as compared to placing the century-old old amalgam ones.

Sealants

Adult molars have a lot of deep grooves that are so deep that toothbrush bristle simply can’t get in to brush off the bacteria and food inside, making the 1st and 2nd adult molar prone to cavities especially when children are still mastering good tooth brushing techniques. Sealants are preventive top coatings that we recommend placing on the molars to seal off the grooves to protect them against cavities.

Baby Root Canals

When a cavity is so big that it reaches the nerve of the baby tooth, then a baby root canal is required. Baby root canal is a relatively much easier and quicker procedure compare to adult root canal. In adult root canal, we are removing all the nerve of the tooth from the crown down to the roots. In baby root canal, we are simply removing the top portion of the nerve, put in medication to make the rest of the nerve in the roots biologically inert, put in the final soothing medicated filling inside the tooth, and seal it with a pediatric crown until the whole baby tooth fall off and the adult tooth is ready to come out.

Stainless steel crown (pediatric crowns)

Stainless steel crown is an extremely durable crown for baby teeth following a baby root canal, for teeth with large cavity where a filling alone would likely fail/crack, for fractured teeth, and for teeth with developmental defects.

Space Maintainers

Space Maintainers are placed when the posterior baby tooth are extracted to maintain the space for the corresponding adult tooth to come out. If we don’t maintain the space, the tooth behind the extracted tooth will tilt forward, preventing proper occlusion/bite.
